Monitored: In
April, the central islands received up to 20 mm of rainfall; southern and
northern islands have received less than 15 mm of rainfall. North-easterly winds prevailed
for the northern and central islands and South-westerly winds for the southern
islands during the month of April.
Predictions: A
transition from El Niño to ENSO-neutral is likely in the next month. La Niña
may develop in June-August 2024 (49% chance) or July-September (69% chance). Seasonal
climate predictions predict a wet condition for the northern islands and dry
condition for the southern islands from June to August 2024.
