Experimental Climate Monitoring and Prediction for the Maldives – October 2024

HIGHLIGHTS

Monitored: In September, the central islands received up to 12 mm of rainfall; while remaining islands received less. North-westerly winds prevailed for the northern, central and southern Maldives during the month of September.  

Predictions: La Niña is favored to emerge in September-November (60% chance) and is expected to persist through January-March 2025.
